Description
Day 1° Departure from Quito
Afterwards, we will continue to the Plaza de San Francisco, one of the most representative places of the city and full of history, from where we will walk to the “Plaza Grande”, the historical and political centre of the city, surrounded by countless attractions among which stand out: the Primate Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace and the Municipality of the city.
We continue our tour through the traditional neighborhood of “La Ronda”, where we can find artisan workshops, and observe how their work is made, as is the case of the toquilla straw hat. In this emblematic street, you will have the opportunity to visit an ice cream parlour where you can find very traditional flavors of Ecuador, as well as workshops of cabinetmaking or tinsmithing and products made with bee honey (Entrance fees to the churches are not included).
We head to the “Ciudad Mitad del Mundo”, where we find the monument, built in the 17th century, which honors the French geodesic mission that delimited the location of the equatorial line. It includes entrance to the complex, where you can live experiences that defy the laws of physics and that only occur in this part of the world. After visiting this privileged place and registering it in your passport, you can visit other museums in the tourist park, such as the Museum of Oswaldo Guayasamín, Ecuadorian painter who portrayed the most beautiful and vile of the human being, the planetarium and go to the central square to watch the Andean dance show.
At the end of the tour, you will return to Quito and to your respective hotels or point of departure.
NOTE: On Sunday, this tour operates in reverse, first you visit the Middle of the World and then the city tour.
